A release, also known as a frenectomy, is when the connection of tissue that is restricting proper movement of the tongue or lip is removed. Tongue and lip ties can cause significant problems with breastfeeding and bottle feeding. The tissues that are unable to move properly cause a cascade of issues.
About Dr. Bower:
Dr. Ashlee Bower loves working with babies and their families. She believes in the importance of support for mom during the postpartum time. Having the right resources and support systems available to mom will allow her to best meet her breast feeding goals. Ensuring that baby can have the frenectomy done at an early age will allow baby to gain weight, avoid reflux medications and potentially avoid future health problems as an adolescent and adult. The services that our team provides are part of that support system for mom and baby.
Dr. Bower is a wife and mother of three. Her experience as a mom has taught her that a supportive community around a new mother and baby is essential and having convenient and trustworthy healthcare providers is of utmost importance. She is passionate about providing frenectomies of the lip and tongue in a warm, caring manner and environment that is time sensitive to the mother's needs.
Dr. Bower attended dental school in Mesa, AZ at the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health. She then was the National Dental Director for a nationwide mobile healthcare company. Her vast experience with mobile healthcare allows her to perform the frenectomy in non-traditional settings as well as traditional office settings safely and effectively.
